DeVaughn Gordon is in his fifth year on Pitt’s strength and conditioning staff. An assistant his initial two seasons, he was elevated to associate strength and conditioning coach following the 2021 ACC championship campaign and plays a lead role in the Panthers’ physical development.
Gordon joined the Panthers after spending the 2019 season on the strength staff at Mississippi State, where he helped the Bulldogs earn a Music City Bowl invitation. He previously spent two seasons at East Carolina (2017-18), working with the football team and implementing strength programs for the Pirates’ track and softball programs.
Additionally, Gordon was at NC Central from 2016-17, where he impacted six different Eagles’ programs, including the football team that played in the 2016 Celebration Bowl, the HBCU National Championship Game.
A native of Wheeling, W.Va., Gordon was a running back, wide receiver and return specialist at West Liberty University under Coach Roger Waialae. Gordon earned his bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology from West Liberty in 2014.
Gordon and his wife, Jazmine, are the parents of twins, Maverick and Gianna.
He is a certified strength and conditioning coach by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa) and USA Weightlifting (USAW) as a level one coach. Gordon is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
