Darren Hain enters his first season as Pitt’s assistant athletic director for equipment services. In addition to being the lead equipment manager for the Panthers’ football program, Hain has oversight of the entire Pitt Athletic Department and its 19 intercollegiate teams.
Hain joined Pitt after spending the past five years handling the football equipment needs for the United States Air Force Academy. Following three seasons in an assistant role, he was promoted to head football equipment manager for the Falcons in 2019.
During Hain’s tenure, Air Force captured the 2019 Cheez-It Bowl and 2016 Arizona Bowl. The 2019 squad finished with an 11-2 record and No. 22 national ranking.
Prior to Air Force, Hain was the head equipment manager at the University of New Haven (2015-16), where he had oversight of the Chargers’ 17 intercollegiate sports. From 2013-15, he directed the equipment operations for the football, baseball and golf programs at the University of Northern Colorado.
Hain is a 2012 graduate of Kansas with a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts. He completed a master’s degree in communication from Southern New Hampshire University in 2019.
