Owning of the longest tenures of Pitt’s football support staff, Danny Kozusko is in his 22nd season with the Panthers.
His efforts in the equipment services division greatly impact Pitt’s student-athletes and coaches on a daily basis. Over the course of his career, Kozusko has been instrumental in the travel for 15 bowls and two ACC Championship Games, including the 45-21 conference title game triumph over Wake Forest in 2021.
Kozusko initially joined the Panthers as a student manager from 2004-07. He was the recipient of the athletic department’s prestigious George I. Carson Graduate Fellowship Award.
Kozusko’s professional background includes experience with other sports teams in the city.
From 2000-03 he worked with the Pittsburgh Steelers, assisting the team at all home games and during training camp in his hometown of Latrobe. He also interned with the Pittsburgh Pirates during the 2006 season, working in ticketing, marketing and customer relations.
Kozusko is a 2007 graduate of Pitt with a bachelor’s degree in communication and rhetoric. He and his wife, Lauren, who earned her pharmacy doctorate from Pitt, have three children: daughter Riley and sons Paxton and Myles.
Beyond the Bio
Favorite place on the University of Pittsburgh campus?
Cathedral of Learning….it is an iconic building in the city if Pittsburgh. I love looking at the Cathedral in the fall and seeing the Victory Lights shining bright!
Favorite Sports moment at Pitt?
13-9 victory over WVU in 2007….it was an amazing win for our program. We kept our rival to the south out of the National Championship picture.
What is your favorite aspect of working in Pitt’s athletic department?
The relationships that I have made working at Pitt. From the players to the coaches and staff members I have made some lasting friendships.
What do you love most about working in athletics?
The team concept…working together with a group of people to win championships!
