2024: Played in all 13 games as Pitt's starting punter…averaged 43.7 yards on 58 punts…placed 16 inside the 20-yard line and had 14 result in fair catches…had a season-long punt of 67 yards at Louisville…averaged a season-best 50.1 yards against California…dropped two inside the 15-yard line and had one punt fair caught against the Bears…named to the Ray Guy Award “Ray’s 8” for his performance against Cal.
2023: Appeared in all 12 games as Pitt's primary punter...averaged 42.3 yards on 62 punts...placed 15 inside the 20-yard line and had 12 result in fair catches...had a season-long punt of 61 yards at Virginia Tech...averaged a season-best 51.0 yards on four punts at West Virginia...placed a career-high three punts inside the 20 against Florida State.
2022: Played in seven games, averaging 48.7 yards on 12 punts…placed four punts inside the 20-yard line and had one result in a fair catch…in the Sun Bowl against UCLA, boomed an 85-yarder…the punt set a Pitt, Sun Bowl and all-time collegiate bowl record…eclipsed the all-time bowl mark set by SMU’s Kyle Rote (84 yards) against Oregon in the 1949 Cotton Bowl…the previous Sun Bowl mark was 78 yards (Oklahoma’s Scott Blanton against Texas Tech in 1993)…broke the Pitt record of 80 yards set by Nate Cochran in 1996 against Kent State…Junko’s second-longest punt of the season was a 59-yarder at Miami…as a kickoff specialist, successfully executed an onside kick against Rhode Island.
2021: Joined team as a training camp walk-on…did not play in any games and redshirted.
HIGH SCHOOL: An All-Suburban League specialist at Hudson, averaging 45 yards per punt under Coach Jeff Gough…helped team to a 9-1 record, the district championship and Region 5 final of the Ohio Division II playoffs as a senior…was also a four-year letterman and three-year starter in soccer.
PERSONAL: Son of Dr. Jeff and Meredith Junko…has two brothers and one sister…comes from a football family…grandfather, Bob Junko, was a longtime Pitt football coach and administrator…brother, Josh, was a receiver for Pitt from 2019-23...father and uncle (Mike Junko) played football at Akron, while another uncle (Jay Junko) played wide receiver and punter for Pitt…communication major.
