2023: Played in all 12 games, making five starts at corner...totaled 30 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, one interception and three pass breakups...had a season-high five tackles against North Carolina...had four total tackles—including three TFLs and two sacks—at Wake Forest...had four stops, a TFL assist and two pass breakups against Florida State...had four tackles and an interception against Louisville...selected to play in the East-West Shrine Bowl.
2022: Played in 13 games, making five starts at cornerback…compiled 28 tackles, two tackles for loss, one interception and a team-high 13 pass breakups on the year…intercepted a pass at Louisville, returning it 27 yards to set up a field goal…had a season-high five stops against Virginia Tech…had TFLs against Western Michigan and Rhode Island…had two pass breakups in four separate games (West Virginia, Tennessee, Syracuse and Duke)…added four tackles against the Blue Devils…named to the All-ACC Academic Football Team.
2021: Played in 13 games, starting one at cornerback…starting assignment was the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl against Michigan State…missed the Nov. 11 contest against North Carolina due to injury…compiled 27 tackles, a TFL assist, seven pass breakups, an interception and a forced fumble on the year…twice had a season-high five stops (Virginia Tech and Virginia)…had four stops and two pass breakups against Michigan State…recorded the longest interception return in ACC Championship Game history when he picked off a Wake Forest pass and returned it 73 yards to the Demon Deacons’ 3…Pitt cashed in with a touchdown to go up 38-21 en route to a 45-21 victory…forced a fumble against Virginia.
2020: Played in all 11 games, making three starts at cornerback…starting assignments came against Austin Peay, Florida State and Virginia Tech…totaled 17 tackles, one tackle for loss, two pass breakups and an interception…had a career-high seven stops and his first collegiate INT against Florida State…had four stops, a two-yard TFL and one PBU at Clemson.
2019: Played in 10 games on special teams as a true freshman…totaled 78 yards on five kickoff returns (15.6 avg.)…posted season highs with three kickoff returns for 45 yards (15.0 avg.) against Duke…had a season-long kick return of 20 yards against Delaware….had three tackles on kickoff coverage for the year, recording one stop in the Penn State, Delaware and Duke contests.
HIGH SCHOOL: A two-way standout at Northwest under Coach Mike Neubeiser…as a cornerback, collected 35 tackles, 17 passes defended, two forced fumbles and two blocked punts…as a wide receiver, averaged 21.6 yards per reception (14 catches for 303 yards) with five touchdowns…helped Northwest to a 9-3 record and the Maryland 4A regional finals…rated the No. 9 overall prospect in Maryland by ESPN and No. 25 by Rivals and 247Sports…selected to play in the Big 33 Football Classic.
PERSONAL: Anthony Woods Jr., born 3/28/01, is the son of Tony and Sandra Woods…has one sister…earned his bachelor’s degree in communication and is now pursuing a second major in law, criminal justice and society.
