2019: Provided an immediate impact upon joining Pitt as a graduate transfer from Florida…started all 13 games for Pitt’s nationally ranked defense at Money linebacker…totaled 54 stops, 10.5 TFLs, 6.5 sacks and two forced fumbles…finished second on the team in TFLs (tied) and third in sacks…earned Honorable Mention All-ACC recognition…had a career-high nine stops with a TFL at Duke and was named to the Pro Football Focus ACC Team of the Week…had two sacks against Delaware…had four stops, two TFLs, an eight-yard sack and a forced fumble against UCF…collected five tackles, a five-yard sack and a huge forced fumble at Georgia Tech…Johnson jarred the ball from the Yellow Jackets’ Lucas Johnson on a QB draw just shy of the goal line and Pitt teammate Cam Bright scooped up the fumble in the end zone, racing 79 yards the opposite way...the play was critical in Pitt’s 20-10 victory…named to the All-ACC Academic Team.
AT FLORIDA (2015-18): Played in 33 career games, making nine starts…compiled career totals of 83 tackles, 5.5 TFLs and one sack…in 2018, played in all 13 games, starting two, and totaled 27 stops…during an injury-hindered 2017 season, played in seven games with one start and had 17 tackles and a TFL assist…in 2016, his first active season, played in all 13 games, starting six, and compiled 39 tackles, five TFLs, one sack and one fumble recovery…posted career highs of eight tackles and one sack at LSU in 2016…redshirted in 2015.
HIGH SCHOOL: A highly productive dual-threat quarterback at Skyline under Coach Reginald Samples…accounted for 46 touchdowns (36 passing and 10 rushing) in leading the Raiders to a 14-1 record as a senior…threw for 2,456 yards and zero interceptions during his final prep campaign…Honorable Mention Class 6A All-Texas.
PERSONAL: Kylan Charles Johnson, born 12/23/96, is the son of Darolyn and Charles Johnson…has two sisters and one brother…earned his bachelor’s degree from Florida in telecommunication…is enrolled in Pitt’s School of Social Work.
