Pitt Battles #8 Michigan State to Scoreless Draw in East Lansing

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Pitt men's soccer battled No. 8 Michigan State to a 0-0 draw Thursday night at DeMartin Stadium.
The Panthers came into East Lansing to face a top-10 opponent and held firm defensively, weathering 13 shots from the Spartans to keep a clean sheet. Jack Moxom was steady in the net, coming up with four saves on the night for the shutout.
Anders Bordoy tested the Michigan State defense early with a shot in the ninth minute, and Miguel Bertran followed with an attempt of his own in the 17th. The Panthers kept pushing as Bruno Bertran drew a pair of saves, one in the 40th minute and another in the 62nd.
Mamadou Tall was a threat off the bench in the second half, forcing a save in the 81st minute before firing a shot wide in the 85th. Pablo Portero had the last word for Pitt, drawing another save in the 90th minute as the Panthers pushed for a late winner.
The Panthers controlled 55 percent of possession on the night. The Spartans led the shot count with 13 to Pitt's eight, but both teams tallied four shots apiece on target.
