PITTSBURGH- Softball's Mackenzie Reese and baseball's Sebastian Pisacreta have been named Pitt's PNC Achievers of the Week following standout performances last week.
Reese finished batting .500 (4-for-8) with a .750 slugging percentage as Pitt went 3-0 on the week, totaling two runs scored, two doubles, two RBI, and two stolen bases. She went 2-for-4 with an RBI against Robert Morris before delivering in a clutch moment against Dayton, entering as a pinch hitter in the bottom of the eighth and recording a walk-off single on a full count to secure Pitt's 4-3 win in game one of Saturday's doubleheader. She followed that performance by going 1-for-3 with two runs scored and a double in game two against the Flyers.
Pisacreta batted .429 with a double, three home runs, three walks, seven runs scored, eight RBI and 16 total bases while slugging 1.143 in Pitt's four ranked wins this week that included a sweep of No. 10 Virginia. Pisacreta and Panthers began their week with a thrashing of rival No. 12 ranked West Virginia, 23-1, on Tuesday. The Swedesboro, NJ native hit two home runs and drove in a career-high five runs in the route in Morgantown. Pisacreta kept his strong week going with a two-run home run in Pitt's series-opening win over No. 10 Virginia. He recorded a hit in every game this weekend as the Panthers swept the No. 10 ranked Cavaliers. The catcher had his 15th multiple-hit game of the season on Sunday as he helped clinch their series sweep. Defensively, Pisacreta threw out one base runner and was involved in several run-saving plays. He was a key piece in the Panthers winning four-consecutive games over ranked teams for the first time in program history this week.
