PITTSBURGH - The Pitt women's swimming and diving program has reached No. 21 in the country in the latest CSCAA rankings, the program's highest national ranking of the 2025-26 season. The milestone follows the 2026 ACC Championships, where Pitt finished sixth with 306 points, the best ACC Championship finish in program history.
The diving unit set the tone for the meet, delivering the program's best-ever performance at the ACC Championships and propelling Pitt into second place in the overall team standings through the conclusion of the diving events. Pitt posted the highest combined platform score among all ACC programs in the conference championship, with Jess Vega reaching the platform final. Mariana Osorio Mendoza reached the 1-meter diving final.
Claire Jansen headlined the individual swimming performances, becoming just the second women's swimmer in program history to earn an ACC individual medal. The senior backstroker finished third in the 200 backstroke (1:49.99) and fourth in the 100 backstroke (50.32), with both swims representing NCAA-qualifying efforts. The 800 freestyle relay quartet of Avery Kudlac, Sydney Gring, Mary Clarke and Jansen earned an NCAA "A" Cut with a time of 7:00.42. The Panthers also received scoring contributions from Kudlac, Gring, Clarke and Angelina Messina throughout the week's swimming events.
The ACC performance was the latest milestone in a season that has seen the current roster set nine school records.
The women will cap off their historic season March 18-21 in Atlanta for the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.
