Panthers Set Three School Records, Post 18 Personal Best Times on Day Four in Atlanta

ATLANTA, Ga. - Pitt swimming completed day four at the 2026 ACC Championships on Wednesday at McAuley Aquatic Center, putting together a strong outing with 18 best times and three school records.
The women's 200 freestyle relay opened the night session with a statement performance, earning an NCAA provisional cut while Claire Jansen and Avery Hafele both posted lifetime bests in the event.
Sydney Gring turned in a career-defining day in the 200 IM, earning the first A final appearance of her career in the event and breaking the school record twice in one day, first in the morning prelims and again in the evening final. Gring ended the day with a time of 1:55.26, good for sixth place. Kimmy Shannon also qualified for finals in the 200 IM, finishing 18th overall with a personal-best 1:57.25.
On the men's side, Julian Koch made Pitt history in the 50 freestyle, breaking the school record and becoming the first Panther ever to break the 19-second barrier in the event, finishing ninth overall with a time of 18.87.
Emily Bucaro reached her own milestone, advancing to the finals of the 500 freestyle for the first time in her career.
