Cheruiyot Leads Panthers at Paul Short Run

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Pitt men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Paul Short Run Presented by ASICS Friday at Lehigh University, with the men placing third and the women finishing sixth.
The women were led by a standout performance from sophomore Maureen Cheruiyot, who captured the individual title in the 6K with a personal-best time of 19:47.7. Cheruiyot's victory highlighted Pitt's sixth-place team finish with 208 points.
Ella Cook followed with an 18th-place finish in 21:11.1, while Annie Czajkowski placed 31st in 21:23.8. Alex Fleck finished 51st with a time of 21:38.4 to round out Pitt's top four. Camy Kiser (22:13.5), Sienna Miller (22:24.4) and Elena Barrall (22:28.5) also finished inside the top 130.
On the men's side, Pitt secured a third-place finish with 151 points. Nolan McGinn led the Panthers with a 13th-place finish in 24:18.8, followed by Luke Simpson in 18th (24:24.4) and Nick Steinfeldt in 21st (24:31.8). Andrew Bitsko placed 40th in 24:50.8, while Ethan Feinstein finished 61st in 25:08.1 to complete Pitt's scoring five.

The Panthers will return to action Friday, Oct. 16, at the Pre-Nationals Invitational, hosted by Indiana State in Terre Haute, Ind.
