PITTSBURGH— Pitt standouts Kyle Louis and Desmond Reid have been named to The Sporting News 2025 Preseason All-America First Team, adding to their growing list of national accolades as the Panthers prepare for the upcoming season.
Kyle Louis (Linebacker)
A redshirt junior, Louis returns as one of college football's most disruptive defensive forces. He previously became Pitt's 100th First Team All-American and the program's first sophomore defensive player to earn such honors since the legendary Hugh Green in 1978.
Louis was a game-changer in 2024, totaling:
- 101 tackles
- 15.5 tackles for loss (team leader)
- Seven sacks (team leader)
- Four interceptions, including a pick-six (team leader)
- A blocked extra point returned for a two-point defensive conversion, the first such play for Pitt since 1990
The New Jersey native enters 2025 on multiple major award watch lists, including the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, Butkus Award, and Walter Camp Player of the Year.
Desmond Reid (All-Purpose)
One of the most versatile playmakers in the country, Reid earned Preseason First Team All-ACC honors as both an all-purpose player and specialist, a rare distinction.
His 2024 season underscored his dynamic impact:
- 966 rushing yards (team leader)
- 579 receiving yards
- 159 punt return yards (team leader)
- Averaged a nation-leading 154.9 all-purpose yards per game among returning players
- Scored touchdowns via rushing, receiving, and punt return
Reid enters his senior season on the watch lists for the Doak Walker Award and Maxwell Award, recognizing the nation's top running back and best overall player, respectively.
Fans can catch Louis, Reid, and the rest of the Panthers at Acrisure Stadium this fall for an exciting seven-game home slate, including matchups against four ACC opponents and a marquee showdown with College Football Playoff runner-up Notre Dame on Nov. 15.
