PITTSBURGH— Redshirt junior linebacker Kyle Louis has been named to the 2025 Walter Camp Player of the Year Preseason Watch List, announced Monday by the Walter Camp Football Foundation.
The honor places Louis among 46 of the most outstanding players in college football entering the 2025 season. The watch list includes 38 offensive players and just eight defensive standouts, further underscoring Louis' standing among the nation's best.
A dynamic and instinctive defender, Louis is coming off a breakout 2024 campaign that saw him lead Pitt in sacks, tackles for loss, and interceptions, to emerge as one of the country's most disruptive defenders.
The Walter Camp Player of the Year Award is the nation's fourth-oldest individual college football accolade. The 2025 winner will be announced on ESPN's College Football Awards Show on Dec. 12 following a vote of FBS head coaches and sports information directors. Ten semifinalists will be revealed in November, followed by three finalists in early December.
Named after the legendary "Father of American Football," the Walter Camp Award has honored college football's best since 1967.
Louis is the latest in a proud tradition of Pitt players to earn national attention, and he will look to continue that legacy as the Panthers open the season on Aug. 30 against Duquesne at Acrisure Stadium.
