Pitt Quarterback Recognized Among Nation’s Elite Signal-Callers
PITTSBURGH — Redshirt sophomore quarterback Eli Holstein has been named to the 2025 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award Watch List, the Golden Arm Educational Foundation announced Tuesday. The award annually honors the nation's top senior or upperclassman quarterback who is on track to graduate with their class and demonstrates excellence on and off the field.
Holstein is one of 58 quarterbacks across the country to earn a spot on the prestigious list, which highlights not only athletic achievement but also character, leadership, and academic standing. A commanding presence behind center for the Panthers, Holstein has continued to emerge as a cornerstone of Pitt's offense and a respected leader within the locker room.
Now in its 39th year, the Golden Arm Award is presented in partnership with A. O. Smith Corporation. This year also marks a new collaboration with the nonprofit Leveling the Playing Field, an organization that expands access to youth sports by providing equipment to underserved communities.
As the 2025 season unfolds, the Golden Arm Award watch list will be narrowed to semifinalists, finalists, and ultimately, one standout will be honored in December at the Four Seasons Hotel in Baltimore, Md., Johnny Unitas' hometown.
