PITTSBURGH— Pitt Football was well represented on the 2025 Preseason All-ACC Team, announced Thursday by the Atlantic Coast Conference. Standout running back Desmond Reid earned two selections, all-purpose and specialist, while linebacker Kyle Louis was named to the defensive first team as a linebacker.
Additionally, both Reid and Louis, along with quarterback Eli Holstein, received votes for ACC Preseason Player of the Year, making Pitt the only program with three players receiving votes for the league's top individual honor.
Reid, a senior from Miami Gardens, Fla., finished 2024 with 966 rushing yards, 579 receiving yards and 159 punt return yards. He scored touchdowns three ways (four rushing, five receiving and one on a punt return) and averaged 154.9 all-purpose yards per game, the most among all returning players.
A redshirt junior, Louis is coming off a breakout 2024 season in which he led Pitt in sacks, tackles for loss, and interceptions, emerging as one of the ACC's most disruptive defenders. His speed, instincts, and versatility helped anchor a Pitt defense that ranked among the league's best, earning him multiple All-America and All-ACC accolades following the season.
Holstein, a redshirt sophomore from Zachary, La., is coming off a breakout freshman season in which he completed 62% of his passes (180 of 291) for 2,228 yards and 17 touchdowns. His 17 touchdown passes tied the Pitt freshman record set by Alex Van Pelt (1989), and he was also Pitt's second-leading rusher with 328 yards and three scores on 81 carries (4.0 avg.).
The Preseason All-ACC Team and Player of the Year were selected by a panel of 183 media members who attended the 2025 ACC Football Kickoff last week in Charlotte.
Pitt opens the 2025 season on Saturday, Aug. 30, at Acrisure Stadium against Duquesne, and single-game tickets are on sale now at PittsburghPanthers.com/tickets.
