
Hernandez, Nessler named PNC Achievers

PITTSBURGH — Softball's Ana Hernandez and baseball's AJ Nessler have been named Pitt's PNC Achievers of the Week following standout performances in their respective sports.
Hernandez helped lead the Panthers to a run-rule victory over Louisville and a spot in the 2025 ACC Softball Championship. The senior shortstop batted .500 (4-for-8) in the series, recording two doubles and a home run. She capped Pitt's nine-run sixth inning Friday with a three-run homer, ending the game in six innings.
Nessler hit .470 last week, tallying eight hits, seven RBIs, three runs scored, two doubles and a home run as Pitt went 4–0, including a sweep of Virginia Tech at home. The junior capped the series with a walk-off single to left in the 13th inning, finishing the game 5-for-7 with four RBIs, a double and a home run—marking a career-high five hits.
In the series opener, he had two hits, scored twice and drove in a run with a double. Earlier in the week, the Tampa, Florida, native added a two-run single in Pitt's shutout win over Akron.
Nessler has started all 45 games for the Panthers this season and is batting .331 with 57 hits, 40 RBIs, 34 runs scored, eight doubles and four home runs.
