
Yendell Becomes Highest Women's NCAA Finisher in Program History, Earns All-America Status

FEDERAL WAY, WA - Fifth-year senior Sophie Yendell placed fifth in the final of the Women's 50 Free as she earned All-America status and became Pitt's highest woman NCAA finisher in the program's history.
Yendell swam a 21.66 (11.27 split) to earn All-America status for the first time in her prestigious career. She became Pitt's first All-American swimmer since 1986 (Susan Hickman - 50 Free).
She placed fifth in prelims (21.54) earlier this morning to earn her spot in the A-Final. Yendell holds the 50 Free school record with the 21.30 she swam at the ACC Championships a month ago. At the time, her 21.30 was the 17th fastest performance of all time
The 200 Free Relay of Yendell, Claire Jansen, Anna Wiechertjes and Avery Kudlac finished 18th with their 1:28.18. This group set the school record (1:27.78) at the ACC Championships in February.
Sydney Gring swam a 1:56.90 and placed 34th in the 200 IM this morning. It's the highest finish of her career at the NCAA Championships.
Freshman Kimmy Shannon swam in the 500 Free and placed 62nd, swimming a 4:51.57.
