PITTSBURGH – Softball's Saleyna Daniel and Lacrosse's Sydney Naylor are Pitt's PNC Achievers of the Week following a pair of strong performances during the opening week of the spring season.
A senior outfielder, Daniel helped lead Pitt to three wins and was named to the NFCA Division I Leadoff Classic All-Tournament Team during the opening weekend of the 2025 season. She finished batting .545 (6-for-11) with three runs scored, three RBI, two doubles, and a home run in four games. In two games on Saturday, she went a combined 5-for-6 at the plate with two doubles, two RBI, and two runs scored against Southern Miss and Kennesaw State. The Houston, Texas native also got the Panthers on the board against No. 6 Tennessee with a solo home run to center field off the first pitch to leadoff the fourth inning.
Naylor tied a career-high Saturday with five goals scored in the Panthers' win over St. Bonaventure. It marked the ninth time in which the senior attacker scored 3+ goals in a game and the third time with 5+ points. Naylor scored five goals in a contest on one other occasion, at Virginia last season (3/16/24). The Maryland native's first quarter hat trick kept the Panthers close in a game that ultimately ended with a fourth-straight win in a season opener.
