Panthers Send Four to Midlands Semifinals

EVANSTON, Ill. – The Pitt wrestling team will send four Panthers to the semifinals following a successful first day of the 2025 Ken Kraft Midlands Championships on Monday at Ryan Fieldhouse.
Pitt had five wrestlers advance to the quarterfinal rounds: Tyler Chappell (125), Anthony Santaniello (141), Dylan Evans (157), Jared Keslar (165), and Chase Kranitz (184). Chappell, Santaniello, Evans, and Kranitz each earned victories to advance to the semifinals on Tuesday.
Chappell and Santaniello picked up wins over ranked opponents in the quarterfinals. Chappell secured a 4-1 sudden-victory win over No. 21 Dedrick Navarro of Northwestern to reach the 125-pound semifinals. Santaniello followed with a 4-2 victory over No. 9 Zeth Romney of Cal Poly to advance to the 141-pound semifinals.
Pitt also had six more Panthers advancing in the consolation bracket, all remaining in contention for podium finishes.
Pitt currently sits second in the team standings with 53 points, trailing only Bucknell (55). Indiana (49), Cal Poly (45), and Rutgers (44.5) round out the top five.

The 2025 Midlands Championships conclude tomorrow, Dec. 30, beginning at 10:30 a.m. ET. The semifinals and consolation rounds will begin at 10:30 a.m. ET, followed by the place matches at 5 p.m. ET. All matches will be streamed on B1G+, with live updates available on FloWrestling.
