PITTSBURGH — Head coach Pat Narduzzi said Monday that the Panthers have "closed the chapter" on their dominant win over Boston College and are now fully focused on a tough road test at No. 25 Florida State.
Narduzzi called last week's performance "a complete game" fueled by execution on both sides of the ball. "We executed at a high, high rate, and that's why the score looked like it did," he said. "When you execute and don't turn the ball over, good things happen."
The Panthers will face a talented Seminoles team led by head coach Mike Norvell as they approach the halfway point of the season. Florida State, among many other strengths, boasts one of the nation's top rushing attacks. "They're the No. 2 rushing offense in the country," Narduzzi said. "Their front four are fantastic — they put pressure on the quarterback. We've got to be really good up front."
True freshman quarterback Mason Heintschel earned praise for his poise and preparation after an impressive first start. "He's got a quick release, knows where to go with the ball, and has a good pre-snap idea of what's going on," Narduzzi said.
Still, the message remains the same: take last week's effort and bring it to Tallahassee. "We need to take everything we did last week and carry it down there," Narduzzi said. "We'll have to play our best to get a win on Saturday."
Pitt (3-2, 1-1) visits Florida State (3-2, 0-2) on Saturday at noon and the game will air nationally on ESPN.
