PITTSBURGH – Volleyball's Olivia Babcock and men's soccer's Arnau Vilamitjana have been named Pitt's PNC Achievers of the Week for their standout performances over the past week.
Babcock made program history Sunday, recording a school-record 41 kills in a five-set win over No. 4 Louisville. She broke the previous mark of 37, set by Ann Marie Lucanie against Auburn on Sept. 13, 1991. Babcock is the only NCAA player to record at least 40 kills in a match this season and just the fourth to do so since 2019. She also earned her fourth AVCA National Player of the Week honor, tying the NCAA career record for most weekly national awards. In wins over Notre Dame and Louisville, Babcock averaged 7.95 points, 7.00 kills, 2.20 digs and 1.00 blocks per set.
Vilamitjana led the Pitt men's soccer team to a 4-2 victory over Syracuse on Saturday night at Ambrose Urbanic Field, netting a hat trick — the program's first since Luis Sahmkow on Sept. 18, 2023. The graduate midfielder now leads the Panthers with 19 points on eight goals and three assists.
