Thorne, Team Australia Qualify for 2026 World Lacrosse Championship

ADELAIDE, SOUTH AUSTRALIA - Pitt Lacrosse graduate student Abby Thorne and Team Australia took second place in January's Asia Pacific Lacrosse Union APLU Championship.
With their second place finish, Australia has earned a spot in the 2026 World Lacrosse Women's Championship that will take place in Japan. The World Championships head to Japan and will be contested more specifically in Tokyo during July and August of next year.
Thorne has competed for her home country multiple times over the last few years including the 2022 World Championships and the 2022 World Games. Thorne has started and played in 53 games in three years as a Pitt Panther, leading the defense and recording 70 ground balls and 43 caused turnovers.
The Panthers open up play at St. Bonaventure on February 8 in New York.
