PITTSBURGH—The Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) announced its Hall of Fame Class of 2025 on Wednesday, with Pitt Hall of Famer and former offensive lineman Russ Grimm among the group of 15 inductees.
Grimm earned nine varsity letters at Southmoreland High School between football, basketball and track and field before moving on to play football at Pitt. Grimm started at center for the 1979 and 1980 Panthers teams that went a combined 22-2 and won the Fiesta and Gator Bowls.
A third-round selection (69th overall) in the 1981 NFL Draft by Washington, he became a founding member of Washington's "Hogs" offensive line and won three Super Bowls with the franchise in 1983, 1988 and 1992. Over his 11 NFL seasons, Grimm earned four Pro Bowl nods, along with four All-Pro selections, and was named to the 1980s All-Decade Team.
He spent 26 seasons in the NFL coaching ranks as an assistant coach with Washington, Pittsburgh, Arizona and Tennessee. Grimm added to his collection of Super Bowl victories in 2005 after winning Super Bowl XL as Pittsburgh's offensive line coach.
Grimm has already been selected to several hall of fame classes, including Western Pennsylvania Sports (1999), Pro Football (2010), Pitt Athletics (2022) and Pennsylvania Sports (2023).
The annual WPIAL Hall of Fame induction banquet will be held on Friday, June 6.
