
Gavin Bartholomew Named to John Mackey Award Watch List

PITTSBURGH—Pitt senior tight end Gavin Bartholomew was named to the John Mackey Award Preseason Watch List, it was announced Friday. The prestigious honor is presented annually to the most outstanding tight end in college football.
A native of Schuylkill Haven, Pa., and graduate of Blue Mountain High School, Bartholomew has now been named to the John Mackey award Preseason Watch List for the third consecutive season. The 6-5, 250-pound tight end was also named to the Shrine Bowl 1000 watch list as a top candidate for the all-star game.
Bartholomew started the first 10 games of last season before missing the final two contests due to injury, tallying 18 catches for 326 yards (18.1 avg.) and a score. He was named to the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team for his commitment to community service in 2023.
One of the Panthers' most reliable players since his true freshman season, Bartholomew has started 28 of 36 career games with 66 receptions for 926 yards (14.0) and seven touchdowns.
Bartholomew and the Panthers open the 2024 campaign on Aug. 31 at Acrisure Stadium against Kent State, with kickoff slated for 12 p.m.
