
Pitt’s Yarnell Named to Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Watch List

PITTSBURGH—Pitt quarterback Nate Yarnell has been named a preseason candidate for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, it was announced today by the Tyler Chamber of Commerce and SPORTyler.
The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football who also meets one or more of the following criteria: the player was born in Texas and/or graduated from a Texas High School and/or played at a Texas-based junior college or is currently playing at a Texas Division I four-year college.
Yarnell is a native of Austin, Texas, and graduate of Lake Travis High School.
This is the second award to name Yarnell a preseason candidate. He previously earned watch list mention for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award presented annually to the top senior or upperclassman quarterback set to graduate with their class.
Standing 6-foot-6 and 215 pounds, Yarnell enters his redshirt junior season at Pitt. He has played in six games with three starting assignments, and completed 67% of his passes (51 of 76) for 790 yards with five touchdowns and one interception.
Yarnell has already earned his bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Pittsburgh.
