PITTSBURGH - Pitt Lacrosse alum Paulina DiFatta has re-signed with Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse and will compete for the third summer in a row in the fourth-year league. The 2024 season gets underway on July 18 at USA Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Maryland.
DiFatta was selected in the 2022 Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse College Draft, one of only 15 players, and has totaled 1,336 points during her action in net.
Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse plays a short form, fast paced format consisting of eight-minute quarters, 9v9 gameplay and a 60-second shot clock all housed on an 80-yard by 50-yard playing field. Play will begin with draws at the beginning of each quarter as well as after every goal. The top four players become captains each week and draft their teams from scratch for following week's games. In the Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse scoring system, every player can win or lose points during every game. Athletes score points as individuals and as a team to win MVP titles and cash bonuses.
DiFatta has used her time with Athletes Unlimited to turn into other professional lacrosse opportunities with Unleashed Women's Lacrosse and the Premier Lacrosse League. This has included traveling to Japan and even ringing the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange.
In her only season as a Panther, DiFatta led Pitt in ground balls (51), saves (198) and save percentage (.469). She ranked second in the Atlantic Coast Conference in save percentage and first in saves, saves per game, and ground balls. Her 198 saves in 2022 ranked fourth in the country. Over her career, DiFatta made 661 saves and recorded a .493 save percentage.
