PITTSBURGH—Four members of the University of Pittsburgh wrestling program were honored on Monday by the Atlantic Coast Conference for their academic and athletic success this season.
Earning selection to the 2024 All-ACC Academic Wrestling Team were sophomore Luca Augustine and redshirt freshmen Jared Keslar, Vinnie Santaniello and Finn Solomon.
Augustine and Solomon had previously been named NWCA Scholar All-Americans for this season.
A native of nearby Waynesburg, Pa., Augustine continues to add to his list of academic credentials. Pitt's sophomore starter at 174 pounds qualified for the NCAA Championships for the second time this season and garners his second All-ACC Academic nod after posting a perfect 4.0 GPA in the Fall 2023 semester.
Augustine went 15-8 this season and won a match at NCAAs. The biology major owns a 3.92 cumulative GPA and plans to pursue a career in medicine as he continues his studies at the University of Pittsburgh.
With a 3.32 GPA, Connellsville's Keslar received his first All-ACC Academic selection following a 14-win season on the mat as the Panthers' starter at 157 pounds, including a fall at the ACC Championship.
Santaniello owns a 3.09 GPA and posted 16 wins as Pitt's starter at 133 pounds. The New Jersey native was named as the first alternate in his weight class for the 2024 NCAA Wrestling Championships.
Solomon secured another academic honor with his debut on the All-ACC Academic Team. The product of Franklin Regional went 19-12 at 149 pounds in his first season at Pitt, posted a 3.41 GPA and won a match in his first appearance at the NCAA Championships in Kansas City last month.
Pitt head coach Keith Gavin has now seen 24 of his individual wrestlers earned All-ACC Academic honors over the past seven seasons, including at least four on four occasions.
