PITTSBURGH – Sophomore forward Jorge Diaz Graham underwent surgery on his left ankle Thursday afternoon and will miss the remainder of the season.
"Jorge is a big part of our program and plays with infectious energy and enthusiasm," said head coach Jeff Capel. "The ankle was really limiting his mobility and holding him back from playing to his capabilities. Our medical team has done a great job identifying and correcting the issue and will be integral in helping him through the recovery process. Having the surgery now helps provide Jorge with additional recovery time as he works his way back onto the court for the 2024-25 season."
Diaz Graham was averaging 3.5 points and 2.5 rebounds in 10.4 minutes per game before being sidelined in late January with the injury. He appeared in 16 games with a season-best 14 points on 5-of-5 shooting from the field (3-of-3 3FG) in a season opening win over NC A&T.
Pitt is off this weekend before returning to action Tuesday, Feb. 13 at Virginia. The Panthers have won five of their past six contests, while Virginia has won seven consecutive games heading into a Feb. 10 matchup at Florida State.
