PITTSBURGH—Pitt's Chris Bickell '97 Head Football Coach Pat Narduzzi announced the completion of his graduate assistant, quality control and strength staffs for the 2024 season.
"We have added some outstanding young professionals who will be great assets for our program," Narduzzi said. "They provide vital support for our positional coaches, coordinators and players on a daily basis. I think we have really strengthened our staff in these important areas."
The Panthers will add three new graduate assistants: Jacob Floyd (offense), Chris Russell (offense) and Danny Orrock (operations and special teams).
Floyd arrives at Pitt after serving last season as the running backs and tight ends coach at Sewanee, the University of the South. He was a three-year student assistant at Western Carolina, his alma mater.
Russell was a volunteer assistant for Pitt football during the 2023 season after previously coaching the running backs and tight ends at Seton Hill University (2021-22). He was a running back at Marietta College before earning his bachelor's degree at Penn State.
Orrock spent last season as a defensive and special teams graduate assistant at Ohio University, winners of 10 games and the Myrtle Beach Bowl. He graduated with honors from Miami University, where he was a four-year student assistant.
Trent Turknett joins Pitt as an offensive quality control assistant. The University of Florida graduate spent the past three seasons at Western Carolina as director of player personnel. He also spent one year at Tusculum University as tight ends coach and director of football operations.
Additionally, Sam Medlock has been named an assistant strength and conditioning coach for Pitt football. A graduate of Florida International University, he was a four-year letterman at long snapper for the Panthers. He arrives at Pitt following a stint as assistant strength and conditioning coach for Georgia Southern.
Pitt opens spring drills on Monday, March 4.
