
Pitt Win Streak Snapped at Wake Forest

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Pitt's season-best five-game win streak came to a close Tuesday evening against Wake Forest at Lawrence Joel Memorial Coliseum. The Panthers were unable to get going from the field, shooting just 29.0 percent from the field, while the Demon Deacons posted impressive shooting splits of .608/.500/.950.
Ishmael Leggett came off the bench to finish with 15 points, while Jaland Lowe (12) and Blake Hinson(10) also scored in double figures. The Panthers allowed a season-high 91 points, while also suffering its worst loss of the season, 91-58, Pitt entered the night tied for second among Power 6 Conference teams with six true road wins.
Wake Forest went 8-of-14 from the field with four threes to jump out to a 24-17 lead with 8:56 left in the opening half. Lowe provided early offense for Pitt with 10 points, two threes, and two assists to keep the Panthers connected in the early going.
Pitt entered the break down 12 (45-33) after the Demon Deacons shot 58 percent from the field with seven threes in the opening half. Wake Forest was also 10-of-11 from the foul line at the break.
The Panthers shot just 37 percent from the field, including a 6-of-17 (.353) effort from beyond the arc. Lowe had 10 points, three assists, and two steals in the opening half, while Leggett added eight points. Federiko Federiko, Hinson, Carlton Carrington, and Lowe were each saddled with two fouls in the first half.
Wake broke the game open with a 14-2 run that saw them make five consecutive shots, including three three-pointers to force a Pitt timeout with 13:13 remaining. The Panthers were unable to recover as Wake Forest shot 63.0 percent in the second half.
LOWE IN DOUBLE FIGURES AGAIN IN ACC PLAY
Freshman guard Jaland Lowe finished with 12 points for his 10th double-figure scoring game in ACC play. He has improved his scoring to 11.6 points per game in conference play.
ON THE OFFENSIVE BOARDS
Pitt grabbed 16 offensive rebounds in the game, including six from Guillermo Diaz Graham. The Panthers dropped the rebounding battle (39-29) for just the seventh time this season.
