
Perkins, Cantwell Named PNC Achievers of the Week

PITTSBURGH – Women's Basketball's Bella Perkins and Baseball's Luke Cantwell were named the PNC Achievers of the Week.
Bella Perkins had a big week for the Panthers as she helped lead Pitt to a victory over Clemson on the road Sunday. For the week, Perkins ranked second on the squad averaging 16.0 points and 3.0 rebounds while connecting on a team-high eight three-pointers and shooting 53.3% from behind the arc. The sharpshooter opened her week with 16 points, three rebounds and two steals on 6-for-9 from the floor and 4-for-5 from behind the arc off the bench in the road loss to North Carolina. She backed up that strong performance with 16 points and three rebounds on four made triples to lead Pitt to the 72-57 road win over Clemson. She has now scored in double figures nine times this season including in two straight for the Panthers. Overall, she has connected on a team-high 40 triples so far this season.
Luke Cantwell shined in his Panther debut this weekend in Port Charlotte, FL as he helped Pitt earn their first season-opening sweep since 2013. Cantwell hit .400 with two home runs, five RBI, five walks and six runs scored while slugging 1.000 on the weekend. The FDU transfer collected a hit in every one of the Panthers' games this weekend, including a two-home run performance during Saturday's series finale against Maine. The junior also had a go-ahead RBI single in the seventh inning of game two of Friday's doubleheader.
