Keslar Named ACC Wrestler of the Week

PITTSBURGH – Pitt Wrestling redshirt sophomore Jared Keslar was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Wrestler of the Week following a strong performance against No. 5 Ohio State, as announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon.
Keslar earned a ranked win at 165 over No. 8 Sammy Sasso in his first match back since suffering a hand injury in November. He had a strong start to the bout, using two takedowns to take a 6-2 lead after the first period. Keslar extended his lead to eight points, 10-2, with another takedown in the second period. Sasso came back in the third period with a near fall to keep the match close, but Keslar escaped with a reversal and got an extra point for riding time to secure a 13-11 win.
This is the first weekly conference honor in Keslar's career, and he is also the first Panther to win an ACC Wrestler of the Week award this season.
Pitt travels to Lawrenceville, N.J. for a quad meet on Friday, December 20, with Rider, No. 25 Maryland and No. 14 South Dakota State. Matches begin at 10 a.m. and will air in a split-screen broadcast on BroncVision.
