PITTSBURGH—Pitt senior placekicker Ben Sauls has been named to the Pro Football Focus (PFF) 2024 All-America Team.
Sauls was the lone kicker selected to PFF's 27-member squad unveiled this week. He will conclude his collegiate career as one of the greatest specialists in Pitt history.
Sauls saved his finest season for last. He enters the bowl season with a team-high 95 points, converting 18-of-21 field goals and each of his 41 extra-point tries.
His senior season superlatives:
- Sauls concluded the regular season with an FBS-best three made field goals of 55-plus yards.
- His 18 made field goals this season averaged an impressive 44.7 yards in distance.
- His five field goals of 50-plus yards is a Pitt season record, while his 58-yarder matches the longest in school annals (tied with Alex Kessman, 2020).
- Two of Sauls' 50-yarders were crucial to Pitt's winning margin (2-point win over California and 1-point win at Cincinnati).
- Each of his three misses were from long-range: 59 yards, 47 yards and a blocked 45-yarder.
- Dating back to the 2023 season, Sauls has made 20 of his last 23 field goals, including a school-record 15 consecutive makes.
Sauls ranks fourth in all-time kick scoring at Pitt with 266 points (49 field goals and 119 PATs). He is sixth in overall scoring.
Sauls will make his final appearance in a Pitt uniform when the Panthers play Toledo in the GameAbove Sports Bowl in Detroit on December 26. The game will be nationally televised by ESPN and kick off at 2 p.m.
