No. 21 Pitt Rolls to 21-12 Victory Over No. 18 Lehigh

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt wrestling team claimed six individual bout wins to defeat No. 18 Lehigh, 21-12, at the Fitzgerald Field House Sunday afternoon. The Panthers have won five of the last six meetings with the Mountain Hawks, including three consecutive victories over the last three seasons.
Lehigh came out strong by winning the opening two matches of the dual to take an early 6-0 lead. The Panthers responded by winning the next three matches to take an 11-6 advantage at the halfway point of the dual.
Redshirt freshman Anthony Santaniello was a spark for the Panthers at 141, defeating No. 19 Malyke Hines by a 4-1 decision. Pitt went on to win the next three bouts, highlighted by No. 29 Finn Solomon defeating No. 30 Kelvin Griffin with a 19-4 tech fall to put the Panthers up 8-6. Redshirt freshman Dylan Evans held on to secure his fifth consecutive win of the season with a 2-1 victory over No. 31 Logan Rozynski at 157.
No. 15 Luca Augustine picked up a win at 174 with a late takedown in the third period and No. 13 Reece Heller also won his fifth straight match of the season with a 8-0 shutout win over Jack Wilt at 184.
In a tight match at 285, No. 14 Dayton Pitzer secured the dual for the Panthers with a 1-0 win over Lehigh's Calvin Lachman. Pitzer and Lachman were scoreless through the first two periods before Pitzer scored on an escape in the third to earn the win.
