Pitzer, Stout Record Pins at Annual Blue-Gold Dual

PITTSBURGH – Pitt fans gathered at the Fitzgerald Field House Friday evening for a first look at the 2024-25 Panthers during the annual Blue-Gold dual. The intrasquad exhibition featured 13 matches across eight different weight classes as the gold team edged the blue team 27-25.
The season preview was highlighted by pins by Mac Stout at 197 and Dayton Pitzer at 285. Also winning for the Panthers was Reece Heller who won at 184, 4-1, with a late takedown of Buffalo transfer Chase Kranitz.

Freshman Kade Brown impressed in his first showing with the Panthers, winning both of his bouts at 149 against redshirt-sophomores Jack Pletcher and Finn Solomon. Columbia transfer Nick Babin also won both of his bouts at 125 by major decisions and Vincent Santaniello won by a tech fall fat 133, showing scoring points at the lightweight classes.
Kelin Laffey won both of his bouts at 165 and Solomon (149) won his first bout of the day by a tech fall
UP NEXT
The Panthers will official open their season Saturday, Nov. 2 against Navy at the Fitzgerald Field House. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. and will air live on ACC Network Extra.
