CHARLOTTE – After leading the No. 4 ranked Pitt men's soccer team to a thrilling 2-1 victory over No. 7 North Carolina, graduate midfielder Arnau Vilamitjana was named the ACC Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office Tuesday evening.
With the honor, Vilamitjana became the first Panther to be tabbed ACC Offensive Player of the Week since Bertin Jacquesson during the 2022 campaign and the second Panther to garner an ACC weekly award this season – joining junior defender Casper Svendby.
Saturday, Vilamitjana found the winner with just under three minutes remaining to stun the seventh-ranked Tar Heels. His 88th minute strike marked his second goal of the contest as he notched his first brace as a Panther.
Individually, Vilamitjana has now recorded seven points (three goals and an assist) over his last four matches.
With Saturday's victory, Pitt claimed sole possession of first place in the ACC with just two matches remaining.
