PITTSBURGH—Pitt's Chris Bickell '97 Head Football Coach Pat Narduzzi has been named to the watch list for the 2024 Dodd Trophy, presented by PNC Bank.
Narduzzi is one of 20 coaches named to the list, which was compiled through a selection process by the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Foundation and Peach Bowl, Inc., taking into consideration each program's graduation rate, commitment to service and charity in the community, projected success for the 2022 season and Academic Progress Rate (APR).
Managed by Peach Bowl, Inc., The Dodd Trophy, college football's most coveted national coaching award, celebrates the head coach of a team who enjoys success on the gridiron, while also stressing the importance of scholarship, leadership and integrity—the three pillars of legendary coach Bobby Dodd's coaching philosophy.
Narduzzi was also named to the American Heart Association's 2024 Paul "Bear" Bryant Coach of the Year Award watch list earlier this week after directing Pitt to its first 6-0 start in 42 years.
Now in his 10th season, Narduzzi has compiled a 71-50 overall record. His 71 victories rank second all-time at Pitt, trailing only the legendary Jock Sutherland (111 wins from 1924-38).
In Atlantic Coast Conference play, Narduzzi has directed Pitt to 45 victories since his debut season in 2015, the second-highest win total during that span (trailing only Clemson's 68). He led Pitt to the 2021 ACC championship—the first outright conference title in school history—and was a finalist for the Paul "Bear" Bryant Coach of the Year honor that season.
