
Carrington Named ACC Rookie of the Week for Fourth Time

PITTSBURGH – Freshman guard Carlton Carrington was named ACC Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this season as announced Monday afternoon by the league office. The Baltimore, Md., native averaged 18.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game against No. 8 North Carolina and at Louisville to become the first Pitt freshman to garner conference ROTW honors at least four times in a season since Chris Taft (2003-04).
Carrington opened the week with a season-high 20 points to go along with four rebounds and two assists against North Carolina. He knocked down a pair of three-pointers and was 6-of-7 from the foul line in a loss to the Tar Heels. At Louisville, Carrington finished with 16 points, six rebounds, and five assists, while going 6-of-10 from the field. He posted his sixth game of the season with at least 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists to help guide the Panthers to an ACC road win.
Carrington is one of just six players in the NCAA averaging at least 14.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game. He leads ACC freshman is assists, while ranking second in scoring, rebounds, and three-pointers (30).
Taft (6 – 2003-04), Carrington (4 – 2023-24), and Sean Miller (4 – 1987-88) are the only Pitt players to earn conference Rookie of the Week honors four or more times in a season.
