
Panthers Drop Home Match Tuesday Night To No. 2 Marshall, 3-1

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt men's soccer team (1-2-1, 0-0-0 ACC) dropped their second straight match Tuesday night as No. 2 Marshall netted a pair of second half goals to earn the 3-1 road victory. Luka Kozomara netted his third goal in his past three matches for the Panthers in the loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED – FIRST HALF
- Pitt had the first scoring chance of the match in the 15th minute as Guilherme Feitosa found Eben McIntyre who sent a cross into the box where Albert Thorsen nearly missed the sliding shot, going right of the cage
- The Herd got on the board first in the 26th minute as Alvaro Garcia took the pass from Matthew Bell and beat Cabral Carter to the low left corner
- Pitt tied the game, 1-1, in the 39th minute as Thorsen gathered his own blocked shot and dished a pass off to Luka Kozomara who beat the keeper to the low left corner of the net from in tight on the right side of the box
HOW IT HAPPENED – SECOND HALF
- The Herd had a great chance to open the second half in the 46th minute as Bell ripped a shot towards the left corner that Carter made a great stop on to preserve the tie
- In the 53rd minute, Abdoulaye Toure found Kozomara who ripped a shot just wide right to keep the match tied, 1-1
- Filip Mirkovic had a great chance in the 60th minute but his hard shot sailed just over the cross bar and out of play
- The Herd took the 2-1 lead in the 65th minute as Adam Aoumaich took a shot that deflected off a Pitt defender and bounced aimlessly into the left corner of the goal
- Marshall put the game away in the 70th minute as Marco Silva took a perfect through ball from Aoumaich and beat Carter to the left corner
- In the 86th minute, Thorsen was dragged down just outside the box and the Marshall defender was awarded a red card. On the ensuing free kick, Mateo Maillefaud had a hard shot that was blocked and cleared out of harms way
MATCH STATS
- The Panthers held the 18-16 edge in shots while Marshall owned the 5-1 edge in corner kicks in the road win
- Carter finished off his match with a season-high five saves while Perrotta made three saves in the win for Marshall
- Kozomara had a career-high five shots and Mirkovic added a season-high four shots in the loss
