PITTSBURGH – Pitt standout guard Nelly Cummings has inked a pro contract with AEL Limassol in Cyrpus, as announced by the club Thursday morning. The Midland, Pa., native was a catalyst for the Panthers last season as Pitt returned to the national stage with a pair of NCAA Tournament wins to cap off a 24-12 season overall.
Cummings averaged 11.1 points per game and ranked fourth in the ACC in assists (4.8 apg.), while also making 61 three-point field goals. He posted 20 double-figure scoring games, including four 20+ point games, and led the team in assists 24 times. Among his top performances were a 22-point, six three-point field goal effort in a win at Syracuse and a 21-point outing in a road win over North Carolina. Cummings went 8-of-11 from the field, including 5-of-6 from three-point range, in the win at the Dean E. Smith Center. He also had a 14-point, 13-assist double-double in a Senior Night win over Syracuse.
AEL Limassol has won 13 Cyprus League titles since being founded in 1950. AEL finished fifth in the 11-team Cyprus OPAP Basket League last season.
