PITTSBURGH - Forever Panther Paulina DiFatta will play her second professional season this summer with Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse, as she has re-signed for year three of the league. Season three is scheduled to start on July 20 at USA Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Maryland.
Last year, DiFatta was one of 15 players selected in the 2022 Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse College Draft. She accrued 566 leaderboard points, including three games with 85 points. DiFatta made two appearances as a rookie and started the season opener against Team Apuzzo while registering two saves in 14 minutes.
Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse plays a short form, fast paced format consisting of eight-minute quarters, 9v9 gameplay and a 60-second shot clock all housed on an 80-yard by 50-yard playing field. Play will begin with draws at the beginning of each quarter as well as after every goal.
The top four players become captains each week and draft their teams from scratch for following week's games. In the Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse scoring system, every player can win or lose points during every game. Athletes score points as individuals and as a team to win MVP titles and cash bonuses.
In her only season as a Panther, DiFatta led Pitt in ground balls (51), saves (198) and save percentage (.469). She ranked second in the Atlantic Coast Conference in save percentage and first in saves, saves per game, and ground balls. Her 198 saves in 2022 ranked fourth in the country. Over her career, DiFatta made 661 saves and recorded a .493 save percentage.
