Lowe Wins 12th Annual Guy V. Lewis Award

PITTSBURGH – Pitt signee Jaland Lowe was announced as the winner of the 12th annual Guy V. Lewis Award Wednesday evening, earning the honor as the top boys basketball player in the Greater Houston area.
Lowe, a 6-1 guard and Pittsburgh signee, had a strong campaign for the Fort Bend Marshall Buffalos this past season, leading the team to the Region III-5A championship game and a 35-4 overall record. Lowe averaged 26.4 points, 8.1 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 3.1 steals, and 2.3 blocks per game as a senior for coach Ronnie Courtney. He surpassed 2,000 career points during district play and closed out his high school career as a three-time all-district selection, two-time all-state honoree, two-time District 20 5A Most Valuable Player, two-time All-Greater Houston Player of the Year, and two-time all-region selection.
Lowe is part of a highly touted incoming class for the Panthers that included top-100 prospect Carlton Carrington and three-star wing Marlon Barnes, Jr.
Previous winners of the Guy V. Lewis Award include inaugural winner Rasheed Sulaimon of Strake Jesuit (2012); Aaron Harrison, Travis HS (2013); Justise Winslow, St. John's (2014); Galen Robinson, Westbury Christian School (2015); De'Aaron Fox, Cy Lakes HS (2016); Nigel Hawkins, Cy Falls HS (2017); Quentin Grimes, College Park HS (2018); Kharee "KJ" McDaniel, Klein Forest HS (2019); Tramon Mark, Dickinson HS (2020), Ramon Walker, Shadow Creek (2021) and PJ Haggerty, Crosby (2022).
