Pitt Moves into AP & USA Today Coaches Polls

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt men's basketball team moved into the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches Poll Monday following a successful week that saw the Panthers ascend to the top of the Atlantic Coast Conference standings. Pitt topped Georgia Tech (76-68) and Syracuse (99-82) to improve to 21-8 on the season, including a 14-4 mark in conference play.

Pitt enters the AP Poll at No. 25, making its first appearance in the poll since Jan. 11, 2016. The Panthers are also ranked No. 25 in the USA Today Coaches Pol, their first ranking in the coaches poll since Jan. 25, 2016.

In head coach Jeff Capel's fifth season, Pitt has been one of the best teams in the country from mid-November on. The Panthers have won 20 of their past 25 games with the 20 wins since Nov. 20 tied for 11^th most in the NCAA in that span.

Pitt closes out the regular season on the road with trips to Notre Dame (Wednesday, March 1) and No. 16 Miami (Saturday, March 4). Pitt is one win shy of securing at least a share of the ACC regular season title and a double-bye in the ACC Tournament.
