
Panthers Post Strong Finishes During Final Day of Minnesota Invite

MINNEAPOLIS – Pitt posted strong swims during the final night of the Minnesota Invite as 27 swimmers represented the Panthers in the finals at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center, Saturday night.
Max Matteazzi and Jerry Chen dominated the men's 200 Breast, picking up first and third place finishes. Matteazzi claimed first with a time of 1:55.89 while Chen finished third with a time of 1:56.28 – both times are good for an NCAA 'B' Standard.
Claire Jansen kicked off the finals with a third-place finish in the 200 Back with a time of 1:55.24, good for a NCAA 'B' standard time. Stepan Goncharov came in fifth in the men's 100 Free with a time of 43.15 and Sydney Gring came in fifth place in the 200 Fly (1:57.46), each qualifying for an NCAA 'B' Standard. Tess Mock finished fourth in the women's 1650 Free with a time of 16:37.24.
Jessica Strong (6th – 2:13.30) and Angelina Messina (8th – 2:16.13) posted strong swim in the women's 200 Breast while Marcin Goraj took eighth in the men's 200 Back with a time of 1:44.06. Strong's and Goraj's times qualify for an NCAA 'B' Standard.
The relay teams ended the night with the women's 400 Free Relay of Sophie Yendell, Jansen, Avery Kudlac,and Gring finishing fifth with a time of 3:18.92. The men's team of Goncharov, Dominic Toledo, Krzysztof Radziszewski and Goraj finished fifth with a time of 2:53.23.
