PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh women's lacrosse team has signed nine class of 2024 prospects, head coach Emily Boissoneault announced Thursday morning.
"We are so excited for our 2024 class," Boissonneault said. "They are dynamic, passionate and have a high lacrosse IQ. These are girls that are committed to building this program and striving for excellence. They will be incredible additions to the team and Panther community."
The incoming class features four from Pennsylvania, two from Virginia and one each from Florida, Maryland and New York. The 2024 group includes two family ties: sophomore Alexa Carannante's sister, Kayli and director of lacrosse operations' cousin, Hannah Wakefield.
2024 Recruiting Class
Kayli Carannante – MID – Mount Sinai, New York
High School: Mount Sinai High School
Club Lacrosse Team: Long Island Yellow Jackets
Boissonneault on Carannante: Kayli is no stranger to Pitt Lacrosse. She will be joining her sister, Pitt sophomore defender Alexa Carannante. Kayli, however, is a true, two-way midfielder that we anticipate helping us on both ends of the field. She is a special player with an incredible lacrosse IQ and competitiveness that will be an asset for our program.
Lexie Conte – ATT – Downingtown, Pennsylvania
High School: Downingtown East High School
Club Lacrosse Team: PA Express 2024
Boissonneault on Conte: With her quick first step, Lexie Conte can find her way through any defense. Whether she has the ball or not, we expect her to add a dynamic layer to our offensive unit.
Riley Ebersole – MID – Finksburg, Maryland
High School: Westminster High School
Club Lacrosse Team: Check-Hers Elite
Boissonneault on Ebersole: Riley is a fiery midfielder that makes big moves on offense. We can't wait to get her on campus and see how she will impact this team, our growth and legacy.
Shaye Gluckman – GK – Winter Garden, Florida
High School: Bishop Moore Catholic
Club Lacrosse Team: LaxManiax
Boissonneault on Gluckman: Since meeting Shaye, we knew that she was going to be a player to watch. She is all in on Pitt, excited to help us build this program up and have the opportunity to play in the toughest conference in the country. We are thrilled to welcome her to the Panther family and help her reach her goals.
Paige Kawa – MID – Towson, Maryland
High School: Notre Dame Preparatory
Club Lacrosse Team: Hero's Lacrosse
Boissonneault on Kawa: We can't wait for Paige to get on campus. She is a strong two-way midfielder that we anticipate helping us take this program to the next level. She has the IQ and athleticism to make an early impact all over the field.
Gigi Leonzi – ATT – Allentown, Pennsylvania
High School: Parkland High School
Club Lacrosse Team: HHH Philly Girls
Boissonneault on Leonzi: Gigi is a feisty, lefty attacker that finds the gaps of defensive units. She has a great shot that is effective in tight or as an outside rip. She is going to be an amazing addition to the Panther family.
Lainey McGonagle – MID/DEF – Chesterbrook, Pennsylvania
High School: Episcopal Academy
Club Lacrosse Team: Philly Blast Lacrosse
Boissonneault on McGonagle: Lainey is a midfielder that can do it all, but she shines on the defensive end because of her aggressive and physical play. Her instincts and competitiveness are hard to match, and we can't wait to see it translate to the college game.
Addie Murdoch – MID – Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
High School: Mount Lebanon High School
Club Lacrosse Team: Pittsburgh Premier Lacrosse Club
Boissonneault on Murdoch: PITTSBURGH NATIVE, Addie Murdoch is a strong and smart lacrosse player with an incredible lax IQ. She is a yinzer through and through with a hockey background and passion for Pittsburgh sports. We are so excited to welcome her to the team, and we think she will be an inspiration and influence to all the young girls in Western Pennsylvania.
Hannah Wakefield – DEF – Centreville, Virginia
High School: Centreville High School
Club Lacrosse Team: Capital
Boissonneault on Wakefield: Hannah is an incredible competitor that we are excited to welcome to the team. She has a big personality and great foundation on defense as a multi-sport athlete. Hannah is a goal setter and there is no doubt that she will be an impact player on the defensive end.
