PITTSBURGH—Pitt wrestling 184-pounder Reece Heller was recognized multiple times on Tuesday, earning NCAA Wrestler of the Week and ACC Wrestler of the Week honors following his standout performance last Friday night in Blacksburg, Va.
Heller, a redshirt junior from Riverwoods, Ill., improved to 15-3 this season with his second-period pin over No. 7 Hunter Bolen of Virginia Tech in Pitt's 26-12 dual upset win over the No. 7 Hokies.
Heller picked bottom in the second and managed to arch his back and put Bolen in danger, then swiveled around to gain control and secure a fall from a defensive position at 3:32, sparking wild celebrations from Pitt's bench as the Panthers' lead grew to 20-12 with two bouts remaining.
Pitt's 184-pound transfer from Hofstra has made an instant impact this season, posting a 6-2 record in duals, winning Midlands and now helping the Panthers secure a huge upset at top-10 Virginia Tech.

Led by Coach Keith Gavin, the Panthers (8-2, 2-0 ACC) won in Blacksburg for the first time since 2004 and control their own destiny in the race for the ACC dual title this season.
Pitt, which rose to No. 18 in the NWCA Coaches Poll this week, will host North Carolina (6-6, 2-0 ACC) on Friday night at the Petersen Events Center for a 7 p.m. dual on the ACC Network with sole possession of first place in the conference on the line.
The Panthers will then welcome No. 3 Iowa State to Fitzgerald Field House on Saturday at 7 p.m., making this upcoming weekend one of the most dynamic doubleheaders of wrestling action at Pitt in years.
Fans can secure seats to watch Heller and the Panthers twice this weekend at PittsburghPanthers.com.
