ANN ARBOR – The Pitt women's swimming team won three events against No. 16 Michigan and four events against No. 17 Wisconsin during a double dual meet Saturday morning at the Donald B. Canham Natatorium.
Pitt fell overall to the Wolverines by the score of 222-78 and fell to the Badgers 205-95.
"I thought our team energy was great today," said head coach Chase Kreitler. We had some very strong performances as we picked up three event wins against No. 16 Michigan and four wins against No. 17 Wisconsin. That is a huge deal for our program for where we're at right now, especially the win in the 200 Medley Relay over Wisconsin. Overall, we had some mixed performances as our group has just started to rest for ACCs and people respond differently as they come out of a hard training cycle, but we feel confident we will be ready to go in Greensboro and will peak at the right time."
The 200-yard medley relay team of Claire Jansen, Tatum Detwiler, Sophie Yendell and Kate Fuhrmann got the Panthers started, finishing first to the Badgers and second to Michigan with a time of 1:41.56
Senior Jacqueline Tinneny picked up a win against Michigan in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:10.28) and also finished second to the Wolverines in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:58.49.
Jansen continued her successful freshman campaign with a first-place finish against Michigan in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 54.63. Jansen picked up another win against the Wolverines in the 200-yard back with a time of 2:00.80.
Detwiler took third in 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.25) while freshman Olivia Yoo came in third to Michigan in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:04.66.
Yendell kept up the pace for the Panthers, as she finished first to Wisconsin and second to Michigan in the 50-yard freestyle (22.95). The Tamworth, England native also came in third to both the Wolverines and the Badgers in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 55.15.
On the diving side, Rachel Dickerson won both the 1-meter (262.65) and 3-meter (280.55) against Wisconsin.
