BIRMINGHAM, AL – The summer of lacrosse schedule continues as four Panthers take part in the 2022 World Games. Head coach Emily Boissonneault, assistant Coach Haley Hicklen, Paige Petty and rising junior Abby Thorne will compete this week in Birmingham, Ala.
Boissonneault will don the red and white for Canada once again, fresh off a silver medal performance at the World Championships in Towson, Md., last weekend. She is a veteran of the international stage, helping Team Canada to four silver medals as a player.
Hicklen and Petty will play for the United States after participating in multiple sixes events and camps over the past year. The U.S. team is coached by former Pitt assistant, Regy Thorpe.
Thorne's busy summer continues as she will play for the Aussies in another senior-level competition. She showed well at Worlds and looks to build upon her successful campaign there and in the Panthers' inaugural season.
Action in the women's event gets underway Tuesday, July 12. Eight teams will be participating and four will advance to Friday's semifinal round. The final will be contested on Saturday. The preliminary rounds will be streamed on Olympics.com.
