PITTSBURGH – Pitt lacrosse graduate transfer goalie Paulina DiFatta, an All-ACC and Honorable Mention All-America honoree in 2022, was selected with the No. 11 pick in the Athletes Unlimited College Draft Tuesday night. DiFatta will compete in the Athletes Unlimited Pro Lacrosse league from July 21 – Aug. 14.
"I'm very grateful to have the opportunity to play among the best in the country and would like to thank my coaches, teammates and family for all their support," DiFatta said. "This is an incredible chance to grow the game for the younger players who love the sport as much as I do."
This will be the second year of Athletes Unlimited lacrosse. Last season, Panther assistant coach Haley Hicklen competed as a goalie in the new league.
Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse plays a short form, fast paced format consisting of eight-minute quarters, 9v9 gameplay and a 60-second shot clock all housed on an 80-yard by 50-yard playing field. Play will begin with draws at the beginning of each quarter as well as after every goal.
The top four players become captains each week and draft their teams from scratch for following week's games. In the Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse scoring system, every player can win or lose points during every game. Athletes score points as individuals and as a team to win MVP titles and cash bonuses.
DiFatta led Pitt in ground balls (51), saves (198) and save percentage (.469). She ranked second in the league in save percentage and first in saves, saves per game, and ground balls. Her 198 saves this year ranked fourth in the country. Over her career, DiFatta made 661 saves and recorded a .493 save percentage.
