PITTSBURGH -- In alignment with the University of Pittsburgh's Plan for Pitt, Pitt Athletics is demonstrating its commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion by participating in the University's Supplier Diversity Initiative. The Supplier Diversity Initiative is designed to ensure that businesses of diverse backgrounds and ownership have the opportunity to become valued suppliers and positively impact the general economic well-being of the community.
"We are proud to participate in the Supplier Diversity Initiative and impact our community in a positive and genuine way." said Director of Athletics Heather Lyke. "We look forward to building upon existing relationships and forming new ones with diverse business owners and be a part of this important strategic priority for the University."
Beginning in May, Pitt Athletics will commit to increasing spend with certified diverse suppliers who are registered with the University.
In support of the Supplier Diversity Initiative, Athletics has developed its own dashboard to assist users in identifying diverse suppliers. The University of Pittsburgh accepts Disadvantaged, Minority-owned, Woman-owned, Veteran-owned, LGBTQ-owned, and HUBZone certifications from several certifying organizations. A vendor can visit this website to learn more about becoming certified.
